The Wisting oil field will be the northernmost in the world. Located in the vulnerable arctic and estimated to cause over 200 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, it poses great risks to climate and environment. Natur og Ungdom is Norway’s
largest environmental organisation for young people and intends to stop Wisting. Applications to develop an oil field has never been rejected on environmental grounds in Norway, but Wisting is the perfect candidate to be the first. Natur og Ungdom wants to mobilise the public against Wisting and pressure key decision makers. If successful, parliament will deny Equinor’s application to develop.
